Vision & Eye Health Care
At Peninsula Eyecare Izzards Optometrists, our optometry services involve assessing both vision and eye health through structured consultations and clinical testing. Optometry services can involve reviewing changes in vision, identifying signs of eye conditions and determining appropriate next steps based on findings. Diagnostic tools such as OCT and retinal imaging are used where required to support assessment and provide a clearer understanding of eye health.
Our optometry services can include:
- Assessment of vision changes and prescription requirements
- Use of diagnostic imaging to support clinical evaluation
You can book an appointment for general eye care or for more specific assessments. Each consultation involves reviewing relevant information and conducting testing based on clinical requirements. We also provide access to eyewear and contact lens options where needed. To arrange an appointment, call (02) 4341 2083. We have two clinics on the Central Coast—in Umina Beach and Woy Woy.
Understanding Your Eye Health
Our optometry services extend beyond measuring vision to include assessment of eye structures and function. We carry out testing such as visual acuity checks, retinal imaging and pressure measurements based on the consultation. These assessments help our optometrists identify changes over time and support ongoing monitoring where required. We provide services for a range of age groups, including children and older adults, taking into account individual needs and clinical factors.
We also provide access to services available through relevant programs and eligibility pathways. This includes participation in the NSW Spectacles Program through Vision Australia, which offers subsidised eyewear for eligible individuals. Optometry services are also available for eligible Veteran Affairs cardholders under government-supported arrangements.

FAQ
When should an eye examination be considered?
Eye examinations may be considered when there are noticeable changes in vision, such as difficulty focusing or reading. They may also be part of routine health checks for monitoring eye health over time. Frequency can vary depending on age, medical history and individual circumstances. An optometrist can provide guidance on appropriate timing following an initial consultation.
What types of conditions can be assessed during a consultation?
Optometry consultations can include assessment for a range of eye conditions affecting vision and eye health. This may involve reviewing signs associated with conditions such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. Testing and imaging may be used where clinically appropriate to support assessment. Findings are used to inform recommendations or referrals if required.
What types of tests may be included during an optometry appointment?
An optometry appointment may include a combination of vision testing and eye health assessments depending on what is discussed during consultation. This can involve visual acuity checks, digital retinal imaging or visual field testing where required. The type of testing selected is based on clinical findings at the time of the appointment. Additional assessments may be included if further information is needed.
